"Flying Again" By: Faita "You're late," Bruce said staring at the screen as Terry entered the batcave in the Batman uniform. "Sorry, bank robberies don't stop themselves you know" Terry said sarcastically. "Fair enough. I have a special assignment for you" Bruce told him. "Really what?" Terry asked. "I need you to bring someone here" he told him. "As Batman?" Terry asked. "Yes. And be careful, this is somewhat of a personnel request" Bruce told him. "Really, how so?" Terry asked, interested. "Just do it. I'll give you the address in the Batmoblie" Bruce said. "Alright, alright. I'm not getting any more information from you here" Terry said as he walked away. "Got information, and heading to the location" Batman said to himself. "She'll be waiting" Bruce's voice came over the microphone. "So who is she anyway?" Batman asked him. "A very old friend" he answered. "Hey, I got something on the police scanner, a lot of cars are heading for an old warehouse in the south district" Batman read off of a panel. "Check it out, I'll call her" Batman heard a click. Then he headed to the old warehouse. He walked into the warehouse very quietly, looking around. He looked around the main room. There were five or six big men with huge weapons he had never seen before. Hanging from a hooked chain from the ceiling was a teenage girl; she had brown hair tied back and a green long-sleeved overcoat over a brown shirt and long black slacks. She was struggling in the chains. Classic kidnapping, Batman thought to himself. He pushed a small button on his belt and went into the background. He walked along the side of the wall till he was well in the room. "No answer" Bruce's voice came over again. Batman nodded his head. One of the men carrying a huge weapon turned right to Batman, a ray of red light flashed over him. "BATMAN!" he yelled. All the other men turned their heads and their weapons in his direction. "Uh oh" he said. He jumped high in the air dodging lasers coming right at him. He jumped up to where the girl was watching him from the middle of the room. He jumped up and with a quick slash he cut the chains wrapped around her arms. She screamed as she began to fall. Batman grabbed her before she fell two feet. He wrapped his one arm around her waist as she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his shoulder. As he flew through the air escaping bullets and lasers. Every time he swerved her hold around his neck got stronger. Shots from the cops outside hadn't started yet. But the five or six men with guns made enough noise for now. As he flew to dodge another shot, one coming from behind hit him square in the back. He yelled out in pain as it spread through his nerves. The girl's grip again got stronger. He flew lower and slower to the back of the warehouse. The girl lifted her head off his shoulder and looked behind them. Batman could feel her hold her breath against his chest. He gathered that as the fact that they were being followed. With an uncomfortable moan he tried to go faster. Finally he got out the back he landed and closed the door. He set the girl to her feet and tried to walk to the hidden batmobile. He walked a few steps then collapsed to his feet. The girl ran over to him and tried to help him to his feet. Batman looked up into her soft brown eyes, then everything went black. Terry moaned as he opened his eyes. He blinked and tried to sit up. He managed to sit up but with a great deal of pain. He had a bandage slung around his back and shoulder. When his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he realized he was in the batcave. A small section of it anyway. The top half of his costume lay next to the bed he was laying in. he picked it up and slowing put it on with as little pain as possible. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and groaned as he stood up. He took one step forward then stopped. He heard footsteps walking towards him. He knew the sound that Bruce makes when he walks, and this was too quick. He took another step then stopped again. The footsteps were very close now. He suddenly became somewhat nervous the closer the footsteps got. Then without warning the creator of the footsteps walked around the corner a few feet in front of him and stopped and looked right at him. "You're awake" the girl from the warehouse said smiling as she set down two mugs of tea on a tray close to her. "What are you doing here?" Terry asked, as he looked the room for his mask. "I doubt the mask will help you now," she said. Terry looked up at her in surprise. "That is what you're looking for isn't it?" she asked picking up one of the mugs. "Who are you?" he asked slowly sitting back down on the bed. "My name is Emily Grayson. I already knew about this, if you were worried" she said handing him the other mug, he took it. "Where's Bruce?" Terry asked looking around. "Sleeping. He needs a lot more sleep now that he's old" she took a sip for the mug. "How did we get back here?" Terry asked coping her action. "That new car is a lot funnier to drive then the old one" she said. "How did you already know about this?" Terry asked plain confused. "My father is Dick Grayson, the President of Grayson Company. He was also the first Robin and Nightwing" she grinned as she pulled up a chair and sat down in it. "Makes sense" Terry nodded. "In case you haven't gotten it yet, I was the person you were supposed to pick up" she took another sip. "I always get results" Terry grinned. "So do I, now if I were you I would either get some more sleep here, or at home" she said standing up and placing her mug back on the tray. "I think I'll go home," he said placing his mug on the tray too. "Then come up with a good excuse for those banged up ribs," she said as she left the room. "Terry! Over here!" Dana yelled to him from the other side of the sidewalk. Terry looked around. She was with some friends waving him over. He walked the best he could without showing pain. The pain had gotten better, but it was still there. Luckily his mother bought the story he told her. When he got to her she ran over to him and gave him a big hug. He moaned a little in pain as she squeezed him. She stopped and looked at him with a curious expression. "Terry, are you Ok?" she asked him. "Yeah, just a little injury at the manor" he said. She frowned. "Now you're getting hurt. You really should ask for sometime off" she said. "It's not that easy" he replied. "Dana, we need to get class" one of her friends told her. "Yeah, bye Terry" she kissed him on the cheek and went to join her friends heading inside. He sighed and headed in the direction he was in the first place. He walked around the corner and in the shadows he thought he saw a familiar face. He looked again and hid on the side of the wall in the sun. He kept on checking to see how close. Then, at the right moment, he jumped out from behind the corner. Emily let out a quick cry of surprise. Terry began to laugh. "I didn't you went here" Terry asked Emily who was clearly mad. "I don't. You left this in the cave" she handed him his wallet. "Oh, thanks" he took it and put it in his coat pocket. "Peek-a-boo" Dana's voice said as her hands wrapped around Terry's eyes from behind him. Emily grinned and leaned against the wall. "Dana?" Terry asked. "Yep!" she said as she took her hands off his eyes and steped up beside him, her face froze to a mad position when she saw Emily grinning. Terry's face went to an almost fear. "Who's this" Dana asked. "Oh, Dana meet Emily Grayson, Emily is visiting Mr.Wayne" Terry explained. "What's she doing here?" Dana asked with a happier expression. "Terry left his wallet at the manor, I was just giving it back to him" Emily said standing off the wall. Terry pulled the wallet out of his pocket. Dana expression went to a full smile. "So you live at the manor?" Dana said wrapping around Terry's arm. "For now" Emily said. "So, what does Terry do down there?" Dana asked. "What does he tell you he does?" Emily asked a little worried. "He says he does, stuff" Dana said. "That's a pretty good explanation," Emily said beginning to walk away. She walked down a case of stairs to a parked motorcycle and lifted a helmet of it. She put it on and got on the motorcycle, then she drove away. "Interesting girl" Dana said. "No kidding" Terry said watching her drive away. "Why don't you say we go to a party tonight?" Dana asked walking wrapped around Terry's arm. "I don't know if I can" Terry answered. Dana got mad and removed herself off of Terry's arm and stopped walking, Terry stopped and turned to look at her. "Dana I now what you're going to say, but" Terry was cut off by the sound of his phone going off. He pulled it out of his pocket. "Yeah" he said into it. Dana began to walk away; Terry began to follow her. "Have you seen Emily today?" Bruce asked him. "What? Uh, yeah, I saw her this morning. Dana Wait!" he yelled after her. "Recently?" Bruce asked. Terry stopped running. "No. Why?" he asked worried. "I haven't seen her at all today," Bruce said. "She stopped by to give me my wallet that I left in the cave. Then she got on a motorcycle and drove away" Terry told him. "What color motorcycle?" Bruce asked him. "Blue, I think" Terry answered. "That must be her own, I can't track her" Bruce said. "I'll be right there," Terry said. "I'll call Barbara, maybe she can help us" Then Terry heard a click. "Hello Police Commissioner Gordon speaking" she said into the telephone. "Barbara, it's Bruce" his voice came over the telephone. "Hello Bruce, what can I do for you" she asked. "I need you to help me find someone, she's lost" Bruce said. "How long?" Barbara asked. "About seven hours" he told her. She sighed. "Bruce, you know I can't start a search until they've been missing at least 24 hours" she told him. "It's Emily" he told her. Barbara stood up quickly. "I'll see what I can do" she said, and hung up the phone. She walked around the room thinking. "I found her motorcycle and her helmet, but not her," Batman said standing in front of Emily's parked motorcycle. "Any tracks?" Bruce asked him. Batman searched the ground. "Yeah" he answered looking at four pairs of footprints all heading the same way, three big ones, and one smaller one. "There looks like someone took her, but not willingly," Batman said. "Can you follow them?" Bruce asked him. "I'll try" Batman followed them as far as he could, then ended when they got to the main street. "Wait, I'm getting a call," Bruce said. Batman waited a minute. Then Bruce said to him. "Go to the same warehouse as last night" he told him. "Why?" Batman asked confused. "That's where they have her" Bruce answered. "How do you know?" Batman asked him. "They just called me with the ransom demands" he answered. "And they're in the same place as before?" Batman asked. "Yes" Bruce answered. "Not very smart" Batman grinned heading for the batmobile. "But very strong" Bruce commented. "Why do you say that?" Batman asked jumping in the car. "They got Emily, they're strong" he answered as the batmobile lifted off the ground. "I'm here, now what?" Batman asked walking around the old warehouse. "Don't repeat last night" Bruce told him. "Funny. Those lasers saw me, it wasn't my fault" Batman answered. "It's always your fault" Bruce replied. Batman shook his head and continued walking. He heard footsteps. He stopped and walked around the last corner. A person walked around the corner. Batman reached out and grabbed it by the mouth and pulled it into his arms getting a tight lock around the arms. It squirmed in his arms and tried to scream through his hand, but coming out no good. Batman then noticed something. "Emily?" he said releasing her. She turned around to look at him. "Batman" she smiled. "What are you doing here?" Batman asked her in a whisper. "Trying to get away" she answered him. "Well you made it easier for me to rescue you" he grinned. "Let's go" she said and started to walk in the direction Batman had just come. He followed her. She stopped and clutched the back of her neck, she groaned out in pain and fell to her knees. Batman walked over to her and put his arms around her shoulders and tried to help her to her feet. She got half way and fell down again. "Emily, what's wrong?" he asked worried. "I, I don't know" she answered in pain. "Come on get up, I'll get you home," he asked trying to help her up. "No" she said and pulled away from him. "What?" he asked surprise. "No" she said standing up. She looked right into Batman's eyes, an evil expression on her face. He stepped away from her, and she stepped closer to him. She was not Emily; Batman knew that, even though he had only met her yesterday. "Emily?" he asked her. She didn't answer him, just kept walking towards him, and he kept walking away. "I see you found our little surprise," a big man with a strong spanish accent said to Batman with a grin. "Who are you?" Batman asked the man who was now surrounded by some of the same men that were there last night. "My name is Debajo Mundo" he grinned, by now Emily had stopped and walked over to his side. "Under World" Batman said. "Yes. As you can see, I clearly have all control over your little girlfriend here," he said running his hand over her hair. "What have you done to her?" Batman asked furiously. "Ms.Grayson has a reputation for being very athletic, not to mention her father is one of the richest men in the country" he smiled. "So I figured I'd have her take care of you, then give her off with ransom" "Let her go" Batman threatened him. "Fine. Go" he said to her. She looked back at him, then walked over to Batman. She walked right in front of him, and punched him in the jaw. He was knocked back into the wall. He placed his fingers to his mouth, when he looked at his fingers there was blood on them. Emily walked back over to Mundo. He laughed. "As you see, she is very leal" he grinned. "False loyalty if you ask me" Batman said standing up and wiping blood off his mouth. "Her reputation is earned, is it not" he laughed again. "How did you get her to do that?" Batman asked him. "A little something I call Mente Control" he grinned. "Mind control" Batman said mad. "Exactly. Like I said, I have complete control of this dear girl," he said. "If you hurt her I'll" Batman stepped forward. "I wouldn't dream of it. She's much to special a girl wouldn't you say?" Mundo replied. "I hadn't noticed" Batman said. "Don't let him do it" Bruce's voice said to Batman. "What?" Batman asked him. "Don't let him get you mad, it always throws off your concentration" Bruce told him. "Who are you talking to?" one of the big men asked him. "Never mind. Mundo, stop controlling her" Batman said calmly as he possibly could. "Why? She's actually beginning to grow on me" Mundo ran his hand over her hair again. "She does that" Batman agreed. "Yes, she's a very special girl, almost a woman" he grinned at Batman. "No, I'm not going to get mad, it's not going to work Mundo" Batman said. "Pity. Tell me Batman, how do you know her?" he asked still stroking her hair. "She gets in trouble a lot" Batman told him. "And tell me, how do you feel about her" his grin turned evil. "She can be very helpful" Batman answered. "That's not answering my question" Mundo said. "Why should I answer you?" Batman asked calmly. "Well, I suppose if you said you, oh, I don't know, loved her or something. I'd let her go with you, under her own will" he smiled. "Well I'm not going to say it" Batman said. "In that case. Boys" when he said that all the men around him aimed their guns straight at Batman. "Fire" Mundo, said with a grin. Batman stepped back in fear. "NO!" Emily yelled. She kicked the man closer to her, which caused the others to fall over. All of them fired at Batman, but not one hit him. Mundo yelled in shock at what she did. He grabbed her arm and dragged her into the other room. She tried to get out of his grip, but when she did he only grabbed her again. The other men had all gotten up, but Batman pushed them and they all fell down like before. Batman ran in the direction that Mundo had dragged Emily in. He ran into the main room, when he got to the doorway heading into it, a gunshot hit the wall beside him. He hid behind the wall, he saw when peeked out from behind it that Mundo was in the middle of the room with Emily's neck in his arm. He had a laser pointed towards Batman. Then, Batman heard Emily yell then a big thud. He quickly ran into the room as fast as he could and tackled the standing person to the ground, pinning it to the ground, living no space for the person between him and the floor. "Get off me!" yelled in Batman's ear. Batman looked down right into Emily's face. "Batman, get of me" she told him annoyed. He looked down in surprise, that she was safe, and that he could actually feel her breath through the fabric of his costume. "Really, do you mind?" she asked. He apologized and stood up, then helped her up. "What happened back there?" he asked her as they walked through the warehouse. "His mind control device doesn't really work, but he didn't know that" she grinned. "They why did you hit me?" he asked her. "Sorry about that, I had to make him think that it worked" she shrugged. He steped in front of her. "Did you have to hit me right in the jaw?" he asked. "I had to make it seem real, besides, if it makes you feel better, my hand hurts" she smiled. "That makes me feel much better" he joked as they continued walking. "Just take me home" she said and pushed him a little playfully. He pushed her back. "So that was your girlfriend huh?" she asked him. "Kinda" he answered. "Kinda, what kind of answer is that?" Emily laughed. "Well she's not really, but she kind of is" he tried again. "Ok" she said as they came to the heap of men on the floor. "We should find away around them," Batman said. "No need" Emily walked up to him and put her arms tight around his neck and pressed a button on his belt. "Get ready" she said quietly into his ear. Then, Batman began to float in the air, taking Emily with him. "I don't remember this," he said. "I added it last night after you left" she smiled. "How does it work?" he asked her. "I'll tell you when we get to the other side," she said. "Ok, how do we do this?" he asked. "I'll do it," she said as they began to float over the men and land on the other side. Emily pressed the button again and removed her arms. "It's kind of funny," Batman said as they walked out side, the sun was now setting. "What?" Emily asked him. "Well, Dana always seems to have her arms wrapped around my arm, but you always seem to have your arms wrapped around my neck" he pointed out. "Bad luck I guess" she said. Batman opened the door to the batmobile. "Do know where my motorcycle is?" she asked him. "Yeah, I fixed it so that it would follow the batmobile. It's in the back, just get on and you can use it" he told her. "Thanks" she began to walk away, rubbing her arms. "Emily" Batman called to her; she stopped and turned around. "Are you cold?" he asked her. "No, not really. They tore off my coat when they attacked me" she answered. "Here" he reached in the batmobile and brought out his jacket, he threw it to her, she caught it and put it on. "Thanks" she smiled and walked away again. Batman jumped in the car and turned it on and drove away. Emily got on her motorcycle, put on her helmet and drove away. She drove through the busy Gotham streets, past stores and buildings. She slowed down to a stop light in front of a building with a lot of teenagers in front of it. Emily looked around for no reason. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here" a red headed boy in a red jacket walked over to her. "When did you get a motorcycle Terry?" he asked her. She parked and looked at him. "Aren't you going to answer me Terry, or are you to good to talk to me" he said. She took off her helmet. "First, the name isn't Terry, it's Emily, and second, I probably am too good to talk to you" she said. His mouth dropped. "You're a girl," he said shocked. "You noticed that too huh" she grinned. "I thought you were" he stopped. "You thought I was Terry," she said. "Well you are wearing his jacket. Are you busy Friday?" he asked grinning. "Yes, I have work to do at the Wayne Manor" she told him. "That's were Terry works isn't it?" he asked. "Yes, any way, gotta go" she said as she put her helmet back on. "Hey Dana! Over here! There's someone I want you to meet!" he yelled to someone behind Emily. "What is it Nelson?" Dana said walking over to them. "There's someone I want you to meet" he pointed her to Emily. Emily took off her helmet. "Hello Dana" she said. "Emily" Dana replied. "You have meet before?" Nelson asked. "This morning" Emily told him. "Emily, why are you wearing Terry's jacket?" Dana asked. "He gave it to me, we were walking, and he asked me if I was cold, I said yes, so he gave it to me" she answered her. "Oh" Dana said sadly. "I really gotta go, have stuff to do. Bye" Emily put her helmet back on and drove away. "I bet she does" Nelson said as he watched her drive away. "You what!?" Terry asked Emily in the batcave with his mask off. Emily dipped a piece of cloth in to a clear liquid and wiped off the extra. "I talked to Dana and some guy named Nelson on my way here" she answered and walked over to him. "What did they say?" he asked her. "Dana asked me why I was wearing your jacket, and Nelson asked me out" she answered. "He didn't?" he said. "He most certainly did. Now don't squirm" she instructed him. She lifted the cloth to a cut on the side of his mouth. As soon as it touched the cut, Terry pulled back with a cry of pain. "Oh come on," she said. "That hurts" he said. She shook her head. Then she grabbed his chin and pulled his face closer, then she carefully dabbed the cut with the cloth. Terry tried to pull away but she wouldn't let him. "You're such a baby really" she told him. "Yeah, well this baby just saved your life" he pointed out. "Sh. Don't move. I could have gotten out if you hadn't showed up, and I would not have had to hit you. Through it did feel good" she smiled. "Thanks" Terry said sarcastically. "Don't move. It'll only hurt more if you do." She told him. "Emily, what do you remember about Debajo Mundo?" Bruce asked her from a near by chair. "Well" she said stepping away from Terry. "His real first name is Leon, I heard someone call him that. He needs to try out the stuff he makes before he uses it. And his name should be Grande Idiota" she answered him. "Well, he did like you" Terry said. "Fine, then he's a grande idiota with good taste" she smiled. "Yeah well your name should be Obtener Captura" Terry said. "Get captured. Nice" she said. "Well in the past 24 hours you've been captured twice." Terry said. "Thanks Mudo Murcielago" Emily smirked. "I am not a dumb bat" Terry protested. "Well you're both Mismo Pueril" Bruce told them. "We are not being very childish!" they yelled at the same time. "You Viejo Murcielago" Terry said. Emily hit him in the arm. "Debajo Mundo, high king in the smuggling track. Real name unknown. Is always trying to do something new" Bruce read off the screen. "Not much luck" Terry said as he and Emily walked up behind Bruce. "Actually, they always seem to work" Bruce said looking up at Terry, then Emily. Bruce smiled inside of himself. "Just like the old days" he said out loud. "What do you mean?" Emily asked. "All gathered around the computer" he answered her. "Well Terry can be dad, I'm not" Emily said. "Well Mundo's plan didn't work this time," Terry said looking over at Emily. "Maybe" Bruce said. "Not maybe, it didn't, I tricked him" Emily said. "How did he plan to control you?" Bruce asked Emily. "He put something on the back of my neck. But I got it off" she answered. "Maybe. Terry, check" Bruce told him. Terry stepped behind Emily and moved her hair out of the way; they ran his two fingers over the back of her neck. She giggled. "What?" he asked. "That tickles" she smiled, he smiled too. "There's nothing here" he told Bruce. "See" Emily said. "Is there a scar?" Bruce asked Terry. Terry looked. "Yeah" Terry squinted to get a better. "Is there a shape to it?" Bruce asked. "It looks like, a circle" he answered rubbing his finger over it, Emily laughed. "Quit doing that" Emily laughed. Terry smirked and quickly ran his fingers over her neck. She laughed so much she actually fell to her knees. But Terry didn't stop; he actually began to laugh too. "Ow!" Terry yelled and pulled his finger off from her neck. "What?" Bruce asked him. "Something pricked me," he said. Emily stood up. "My neck pricked you?" she asked. "Emily, I think you're in trouble" Bruce told her. "How?" she asked. "He not only attached it to your skin, but he implanted it in your system" Bruce told her. "So, that means?" she trailed of. "He still has control over you" Bruce answered. "But? How come I'm me now?" she asked worried. "Are you sure you are? What was your mother's name?" he asked her. "Anne" she answered. "He could have looked that up," Terry said. "True. Do you remember your first kiss?" Bruce asked her. Terry grinned at her. "Bruce do you mind?" she asked. "Do you?" he asked. "Yeah Emily, do you?" Terry asked her. "Yeah" Emily said. "Well, we're waiting" Terry said. Emily bent over and whispered something in Bruce's ear, when she finished she stood up again and grinned at Terry. "Does you father know about that?" Bruce asked. Terry laughed. "Can we change the subject?" Emily asked. "We need to run a test on you. Over here" Bruce said trying to stand up, Emily and Terry helped him. They walked over to a table in the middle of the room. "Lay down Emily" Bruce instructed her. Emily went over and laid down on her back. A strip of red light traveled down her body from head to foot. "I found the chip. I'm gathering information from it, and disarming it" Bruce said. "Ow!" Emily said. "It might hurt a little" Bruce said. "Thanks for the warning" she said. "There, all done" Bruce said. Emily sat up, and Terry walked over next to her. Bruce walked over to a nearby computer. "He was planning on having you at a big shipment being delivered to him in the mountains" Bruce said as he read it. "And he put all that in the chip?" Terry asked. "Yes, including everything you needed to say" Bruce answered. "Am I still going" Emily said. "No, but Terry is" Bruce answered. "When's the shipment being delivered?" Terry asked. "Tonight" Bruce answered. "I'll get ready to go" Terry said. "Well be careful, I got work to do" Emily said as she walked up the stairs to the manor. "There's something I'd like to add to your belt if you don't mind" Bruce told Terry as he put his mask on. "No" Terry told him as he handed him his belt. "Be careful with that tontos," Debajo Mundo yelled at several men unloading boxes. "Sure isn't nice is he?" Batman asked Bruce. "Can you see what he's shipping?" Bruce asked him. Batman zoomed in on the crates. "Fusils. Guns" Batman read. "Must be the same kind you saw tonight most likely. Batman was up on a cliff above the trucks that were being unloaded. "Hello Batman" a man with gun pointed at Batman's head said. "Bye" Batman jumped off the cliff and flew to the ground below. Fifteen men surrounded where he landed, all pointing guns at him. "Always a pleasure Batman" Mundo said walking into the circle. "Wish I could say the same Mundo" Batman replied. "Tell me, where is your beautiful girl friend?" Mundo asked. "Far away from here" Batman answered. "Shame. Fire." He told the men. "You want to reconsider that" a female voice from on top of the truck said. She was wearing an all black suit, which covered her completely. She had a small light blue bat on her chest, a darker blue belt around her waist, and her hair tied back with a blue tie and small ear type things on the top of her head. All the men looked at her with amazement. Batman stared at her in disbelieve. "Oh no" he said. Mundo smiled. "Well who do we have here?" he walked closer to the truck. The girl jumped of the top and flew into the middle of the circle with wings exactly like Batman's only the same color as the bat on her chest. Mundo turned around and walked over to her. "Who are you?" he asked her. "Name's Batgirl" she smiled. "Excellent choice Batman, she is very imponente" he grinned. "And you are very feo" she said. "Ev0ery one has an opinion" he said. "The same opinion" she said. Batman steped up next to her. "Why are you hanging around with this boy, when you could join a real man" he said. "He's more of a man then you are" she said, Batman looked at her shocked. "I doubt you really think that" he said walking closer to them. "I doubt you think at all," she said getting ready to fight. "What is she doing?" Bruce asked Batman. "Boys, put your guns down. There is a lady present" Mundo told them, they all put their guns down. "This senora might prefer a trip to the back of the cave instead" he grinned. "Take them away" he yelled. Two nets fell from above and landed on Batman and Batgirl and brought them to the ground. They struggled inside them trying to get out. "Don't try, it you open it or cut it, it will give you such a shock of electricity, to kill you" Mundo laughed. "Put them in the cave, and throw in some explosives" two men walked over and pulled them into the back of the cave. They lit two explosives and threw them in too. Batman and Batgirl had managed to get out of the nets without setting it off. They ran towards the end of the cave, put the explosives were so close to going off, they had no other choice. Batman flew back in the direction they came, and Batgirl was running. Batman picked her up and flew her the rest of the way back. "I'm new at this," she said. He landed at the end of the long cave set her down and covered her with his wings. The blast reached them and hit them strongly, pushing Batman against Batgirl, and Batgirl against the cave wall. They yelled, but made no sound compared to the sound of the cave collapsing behind them. After it stopped they stayed in that position for awhile, pushed up against each other and the rock wall. Finally they stood up in the darkness and walked around, felling the walls. Then they turned on small lanterns on their belts that lit up the entire area. A large pile of rocks and boulders blocked their only way out. They tried to move some of the rocks, but there was too many and they were too heavy. "Bruce?" Batman asked. No reply. "Great, now we're all alone, in a cave. And it's all your fault" Batman said to Batgirl. "My fault!?" she asked in disbelief. "Yes your fault. I was handling it perfectly until you came along" he told her. "You were surrounded by men with huge guns, I at least kept you alive" she yelled. "What did you think you were doing," he asked right into her face. "Saving your life as it seems" she yelled again. "You could have been killed!" he yelled at her. "Why would you care!" she yelled back. "Because! Because I, I, I don't know" he said as he turned around. Batgirl looked confused. "Let's just focus on getting out of here" she said. A tall man with a long black overcoat and gray hair walked down the long case of stairs to the batcave. He stopped when he got to the bottom; he stood in one place and looked around. It really was so big. "Glad you could come" Bruce said to him. "Hasn't changed much," the man said. "It's about the only thing that hasn't" Bruce told him. "Why did you want to see me Bruce? And where's Emily?" he asked. "She's why I asked you here Dick" Bruce walked over to the computer, Dick followed him. "You see, about an hour ago, Emily went somewhere with a little project she was secretly working on" Bruce told him. "How little?" Dick asked him worried. "A batgirl costume" Bruce answered him. "Oh no" Dick sat down on a nearby chair. "She went to help Batman" Bruce said. "She didn't?" Dick asked. "I have the last minutes of what happened to them before I lost contact" Bruce showed Dick everything that Batman saw since Batgirl first appeared till when the blast hit them. "So Bruce, you're trying to tell me that my youngest kid, my only little girl, is a crime fighter, stuck in a dark cave, cut off from civilization, running out of air and food and possibly warmth, alone with a teenage boy" Dick asked worried. "Yes" Bruce answered. "Have you been working on a way to get them out?" he asked. "Of course" he answered. "Can I help?" "We are two very intelligent people, we can figure out how to get out of here," Batgirl said pacing back and forth. "Batgirl just sit down, you're making me dizzy" Batman said. Batgirl took her mask off her face and continued pacing. Batman took his off too, earlier they had searched the cave for bugs or anything so that they could take their masks off if they wanted to. Terry stood up and walked next to Emily as she was pacing. "Terry stop that" she told him. He laughed. "Annoying isn't it?" he asked. "No, I just don't feel like be any where near you, but since I don't really have a choice, the other side of our prison will do" she told him. He stopped pacing. "Well your not exactly the best person to be captured with, Paso Monstruo" he said. "Oh cerrar arriba" she told him. "Well your not exactly Miss. Cortes, and you were brought up to be polite too" Terry said. "Yeah well thank you ex Mr. Maravilloso" Emily said. Terry stopped laughing. "Ex?" he asked. "You thought I marvelous?" he asked her entirely serious. "When you're away from me" she answered him still pacing. "Hey!" he yelled. She jumped a little and stopped pacing. "Look, I didn't ask you to come alright, you made the suit, you put it on and you came here! I only deliberately meet you that first time because you were in danger! If Bruce hadn't told me to go pick you up I wouldn't have meet you and I'd be outside somewhere having a good time dancing with my girlfriend!" he yelled. "You think I wanted to come to Gotham, I was happy where I was. I only came here because dad said I should go see Bruce to find out about you! If you hadn't taken that stupid costume I'd be home on my computer! If you hadn't for some stupid reason decided to put on that silly thing I wouldn't be here either!" she yelled back. "For your information I had a very good reason for putting this on!" Terry yelled at her face. "What is it then?" she asked furious. "Because those stupid Jokerz killed by father!" he answered. "So, people get killed everyday for reasons most likely better then why they killed your father. For your information, my mother was killed because she married my father! Her own family hired someone to kill her because they hated my father!" she yelled with tears rolling down her cheeks. "My father died for a much better reason then marring someone! He had information that would bring down Derek Powers as we know it!" he yelled with tears rolling down his own face. "So sorry if I don't have a screwed up family like yours!" She looked right into his eyes, speechless, and tears still rolling down out of her eyes. Then all of a sudden she swung her hand to hit him in the face, he grabbed it, looked through his tears into her soft brown eyes. Those eyes, he thought, those eyes. She wrapped her arms around his back and hugged him, then she rested her head on his shoulder, and he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and rocked her. She looked up at him. "That's it" she smiled. "What's it?" he asked confused. "Remember that joke you made, about Dana always having her arms around yours, but I always have my arms around your neck?" she asked him backing away. "Yeah, that was about five hours ago" he answered. "You said that after I showed you the thing I added to your belt, and I remember giving Bruce some new ideas for your belt. Terry, did he add on anything to your belt before you left?" she asked him. "Yeah, yeah he did," he said smiling. Emily's smile got bigger. "Great! I hope he put the grappling drill on," she said. "The what?" he asked. "A grappling drill, it works just like your other ones only it can drill through stone and rock," she said. "Perfect" he pulled out the only one he didn't recognize. "That's it" Emily said putting on her mask, Terry put his mask on too. Her fired it into the stone above them. Batgirl took out one almost identical and shot it too. The two began to drill holes in the thick stone, bits and pieces of the stone fell on Batman and Batgirl, then, two area on moonlight shined down on the cave floor. Batman smiled at Batgirl, and then he pressed a button on his belt and began to float to the holes. He stopped half way, and looked down at Batgirl. "Need a lift?" he asked. "No need" she grinned and pressed a button on her belt, the she too began to float right next to him. "Very sofisticsdo" Batman said. The two of them floated up through the holes and landed on the top of the cave. "Let's go home," Batman said. "Wait, first there's something I want to do" Emily, dressed fully as Emily, walked up the hill to where trucks were still being unloaded. Mundo walked over to her smiling, he hugged her. "My Querido, bienvenido" he said to her. She steped back from him, he looked at her in shook. "What is this?" he asked her. She quickly punched him right in the nose, causing him to fall to the ground. "I'm not your darling," she said. The men around, who saw what happened, ran over to her. They all pointed their guns at her. The batmobile drove up beside her. "Need a lift?" Batman asked her. "Wouldn't hurt," she said as she got in. "Bye," she waved to the men, and they drove off. "Nice," Batman said. "Thanks," Emily replied taking off her coat to revel her Batgirl costume; she put her mask on. "Where's your motorcycle?" he asked. "Over there" she pointed to a nearby tree. He parked the batmobile and Batgirl out. She moved some bushes and pulled out a different motorcycle then she usually rides. "New?" Batman asked. "Not at all. This is the old Nightwing motorcycle, with some changes of course" she smiled: then she put on a helmet with a painted blue bat on the top. "See you there" Batman said as he drove away. Batgirl got on her motorcycle and drove away too. "What if we did this?" Dick asked Bruce leaning over the computer panel. "That might work" Bruce pressed it, a picture of the inside of the batmobile appeared on the screen. "That can't be right," Dick said. "Really?" Terry asked them from behind. They jumped a bit and turned around. "Terry" Bruce said. "We got out safe and sound" Terry told him carrying his mask in his hand. Bruce hit a button on the computer and the picture disappeared. "Terry, I'd like for you to meet Dick Grayson" Bruce said pointing to Dick. Dick extended his hand, terry shook it. "So you're Dick Grayson, it's a pleasure to meet you sir" Terry told him. "Dick please. So, you're the new Batman. Well Batman, would you mind telling me where my daughter is?" Dick asked. Barbara Gordon walked behind her desk and sat down in her chair, she took a sip of coffee from her mug and read through some reports. "Commissioner" someone in the shadows said. "Who's there, who are you?" Barbara asked. Batgirl steped out from the shadows. "What on Earth?" Barbara said standing up. "I'm the new Batgirl" she smiled. Barbara smiled too. "Hello Emily, how's your father?" she asked sitting back down. Batgirl drove into the batcave on her motorcycle. Three men where waiting for her. She parked it and took off her helmet. She looked at Bruce then Terry then Dick. "Uh, hi dad" she said. "Emily" Dick said. "Yeah Dad?" she walked over to him. "No" he said. "But Dad!" she argued. "No Emily, end of discussion" Dick walked away, with Emily following him, both arguing. "Terry?" Bruce asked him as they began walking away. "Yeah" he answered. "What happened in that cave?" Bruce asked him. "We got rid of a lot of steam" Terry answered. "So Terry, this is it" Emily said to him outside of a large building. "Guess so" he answered. "I'll be Ok you know" she reassured him. "Yeah I know," he said. "Well, bye" Emily said. "Bye Emily" Terry said. "Emily come on, you'll be late for home room!" Dana yelled to her. "Coming!" she yelled back. "See ya Terry" she waved as she headed towards the school. "See ya, and good luck!" he yelled after her. Emily walked quickly down the sidewalk to the doors, when something in a trash bin caught her eye. She walked over to it and picked it up. It was that morning's newspaper, the title read: FIRST BATMAN, NOW BATGIRL. Emily smiled, and placed it back, the ran to the doors. THE BEGINNING
